Horní Maršov

Horni Maršov ( German Marschendorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five miles south of Pec pod Sněžkou and 14 kilometers north of Trutnov and belongs to Okres Trutnov.

Geography

Horni Maršov is located in the valley of the river Upa, at the mouth of the creek Lysečinský. Neighboring towns are Pec pod Sněžkou in the north and Svoboda nad Úpou and Jánské Lázně in the south.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1466 and has grown by wood extraction for the mines in Kutna Hora. During this time a wooden Protestant church was built.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Dolni Albeřice ( Niederalben village), Dolni Lysečiny (low piston village), Horni Albeřice ( Oberalben village), Horni Lysečiny ( downstroke village), Horni Maršov ( Marschendorf IV) and Temný Dul (dark valley ) and the local documents Maršov III ( Marschendorf III), Stara Hora ( Altenberg ) and Suchy Dul (dried basis ).

In Marschendorf the Rubezahl saga plays The uncut innkeeper. According to the legend, a march villages innkeeper served at each meal of his guests, so even on a ordered Rubezahl omelet from 20 eggs. After the landlord had largely eaten the omelette itself, he suddenly began to cackle and choked out 20 eggs. The landlord never did get back to meals for all guests.
