Horní Police

Horni Police ( German Oberpolitz ) is a municipality of Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic. It lies in the valley of the river Ploučnice ( Polzen ) on the road from Ceska Lipa ( Czech Leipa ) to Decin ( Děčín ).

History

From the mid 19th century the village belonged to the district court or to the district Bohemian Bohemian Lipa Lipa.

Community structure

The community Horni Police consists of the districts Dvorsko ( Hofberg ), Horni Police ( Oberpolitz ), Pod Školou and Podlesí ( Waldeck ). Basic settlement units are Horni Police, Pod Školou and Podlesí. To Horni Police also includes the settlements Bela ( Biela ) and Stoupno ( Staupen ).

Attractions

  • Baroque parish and pilgrimage church " Visitation ", built in 1689-1701 by Giulio Broggio. Politz was once a famous pilgrimage site.

  • Jacob Arlet ( * before October 16, 1661 in Oberpolitz, † December 27, 1702 in Grüssau ), Cistercian monk, painter and engraver
  • Wenzel squat ( born January 8, 1732 in Neustadtel; † March 1, 1808 in Horni Police ), called Hockewanzel, Catholic priest and archdeacon in 1779 Politz. He was considered Eulenspiegel in priest garb and was an original, which is unparalleled in the German Bohemian region.
