The Bear and Two songs on the album were released as singles.

Concept

Hospice tells the story of an emotionally abusive relationship, which by the analogy of a hospice employee ( or husband - not exactly clear ) and a patient named Sylvia explains. Sylvia has been diagnosed with incurable bone cancer and is treated in the real existing Memorial Sloan -Kettering Cancer Center. Thanks to all the songs clarifies that the two already knew longer and Sylvia already has an abortion. At the end of the album dies Sylvia and the hospice staff remains lonely. The frontman of the band, Peter Silberman, keeps a low profile, as the texts of the disk should be interpreted exactly interpretive and how the content is autobiographical.

The album received very positive reviews. Pitchfork declared the plate for Best New Music and Hospice placed at # 37 of the best albums of 2009. The site praised the "power to make the listener [ Album ] emotionally ready ".
