Hósvík

Hósvík [ hɔusvʊik ] ( Danish name: Thorsvig ) is a place of the Faroe Islands on the east coast of the main island Streymoy.

A major employer in the community is the shipping company Thor. She became famous because their factory ship Athena was evacuated in October 2010 in the Irish Sea after a fire on board.

The municipality Hósvík was identical to this one place and merged on 1 January 2005 with the Sunda municipal. The characteristic church of Hósvík is a concrete building of 1929. Before the bridge to the east of Streymoy Eysturoy was built wrong from here, a car ferry to Selatrað.
