House of Balliol
The house Balliol is a family of Scottish nobility Norman origin. They first appeared on the mid-13th century. 1292 John Balliol was used by King Edward I of England as King of Scots, but this forced him four years later to abdicate. His son Edward Balliol usurped the throne in 1322, but was also able to keep up with English help to 1336.
