Howard Goodall

Howard Lindsay Goodall, CBE ( born May 26, 1958 in Bromley ) is a British composer.

Life

Goodall attended the New College School, Oxford, Stowe School and Lord Williams 's School, Thame. He then studied music at Christ Church, Oxford. He is married to Val Fancourt, which serves as an agent of classical musicians.

Goodall composed mainly musicals, sacred music and film music. He was known as the composer of the theme song to the British series Blackadder and Mr Bean, both the series and the movies. Goodall has received prizes for sacred compositions. His works range from variations on Psalm 23 to requiems and choral works.

Goodall has honorary doctorates of Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln, the University of Bolton and the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters.

In April 2009, Goodall was nominated for the British music award "Composer of the Year" and won it for his work Eternal Light: A Requiem.

Also in 2009 he was awarded an Emmy Award for his film score for blood, sweat and tears. 2001 Goodall was a BAFTA TV Award win.
