Howard Kaylan

Howard Kaylan ( born June 22, 1947 in New York as Howard Kaplan ) is an American rock musician who is primarily known as a singer. The mid-1960s he founded together with Mark Volman the bubblegum pop group The Turtles, which at that time countless Top Ten hits (Happy Together) and had enjoyed world fame.

Kaylan grew up in the town of West Chester on in Los Angeles. At school he met the same age Mark Volman. He was particularly interested in choral singing and the clarinet playing. At the age of 16, he won the Bank of America Fine Arts Award - a prize for young talents. After school he gave at the University of California only a brief interlude as a student. His interest was rather less academic things, but he took care of all the more to the university's own radio station.
