Howard William Stull

Howard William Stull ( born April 11, 1876 at Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, † April 22, 1949 ) was an American politician. In the years 1932 and 1933 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Born on a farm Howard Stull attended the public schools of his home, which Johnstown High School and the State Normal School in Indiana ( Pennsylvania). Between 1887 and 1894 he worked as a store clerk; in the years 1894 and 1895 he was employed by a railroad company. Then he taught until 1897 as a teacher and was then until 1898 Postal Worker in Johnstown. From 1899 to 1904, he served there as deputy postmaster. In 1905, Stull moved to the federal capital, Washington DC, where he was Deputy Head of the U.S. Treasury. This office he held until 1908.

After studying law at the local George Washington University and his 1908 was admitted to the Bar Still began to work in this profession in Colville in Washington State. Between 1911 and 1916 he was repeatedly District Attorney in the local Stevens County. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In 1916 he took part in the regional party congress for the state of Washington as a delegate. A year later he returned to Johnstown, where he also practiced law.

Following the resignation of Congressman James Russell Leech Stull was chosen as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington at the due election for the 20 seats of Pennsylvania, where he took up his new mandate on April 26, 1932. Since he resigned at the regular congressional elections of 1932, a further candidacy, he could only finish the current term in Congress until March 3, 1933. This was marked by the global economic crisis. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Stull worked as a lawyer again. He died on April 22, 1949 in Johnstown, where he was also buried.
