Howie Dorough

Howard Dwaine Dorough Flores ( born August 22, 1973 in Orlando, Florida, United States) is an American singer and member of the boy band Backstreet Boys.

Life

Howie Dorough was born on 22 August 1973 as the youngest of five children in Orlando, Florida. He's Puerto Rican and Irish roots. In order to be able to feed his family of seven, his father Hoke, a full-time police officer worked after hours as a security guard in a bank. On weekends, he trained police dogs. Howie's mother, Paula had a job by the way in the cafeteria of the urban school.

His stage career began Howie on musical theater. His sister Polly- Anna, who himself sang in musicals and dancing, at the time the Seven Years' gave his first role in the musical " The Wizard of Oz". A year later he joined the popular children's show troupe " Showstoppers " and starred in several plays. At the age of twelve years, Howie received private vocal and dance lessons and was a member of the urban church choir.

When graduating from Edgewater High School Howie was honored as " the most talented entertainers " in Yearbook of the school, which earned him a scholarship for the "Valencia Community College " in Orlando. After Howie's sister, Caroline Dorough - Cochran died of the autoimmune disease lupus in 1998, he founded the Dorough Lupus Foundation, short DLF, an organization through financial donations other organizations and individuals supported, dedicated to the research and treatment of this disease, as well as related educational work have.

On December 8, 2007 Dorough married his longtime girlfriend Leigh Boniello.

In early 2008 she was diagnosed with Howie Dorough 's father Hoke lung cancer, who had, however, already scattered metastases. Chemotherapy were unsuccessful and weakened the 69 -year-olds even more. On 21 June 2008 he died of a brain tumor.

On 6 May 2009 Howie and his wife Leigh were parents of a son ( James Hoke ).

On February 16, 2013 their second son John Holden was born.
