Hozelec

Hozelec ( until 1927 slovak " Hozolec "; German High salt or Hoseletz, Hungarian Ószelec - to 1907 Hozelec ) is a town in eastern Slovakia, with 824 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Poprad, which is a part of the overall district Prešov Region.

Geography

The municipality is located in the basin Podtatranská kotlina (sub - Tatra boiler) in the traditional landscape Zips, between the rivers creek Gánovský and Hozelský creek leading to two different basins: the former belongs to that of the Baltic Sea, while the second to the catchment area of the Black Sea. Hozelec is located five kilometers from Poprad.

Administratively divided the community in the main town Hozelec and Úsvit settlement, which is located about four kilometers northeast of Hozelec.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1243.
