Hudson (Software)

Hudson is an extensible, web-based system for continuous integration. With its help it is possible to automate the integration of software. The program is written in Java, runs in any Servlet containers and can be extended with a variety of plugins. Hudson has been developed primarily by Kohsuke Kawaguchi, an employee of Sun Microsystems. 2008 Hudson won on the JavaOne conference the Duke's Choice Award in the Developer Solution. Kawaguchi left the company after it was acquired by Oracle. Because of various problems between the developers and Oracle, for example, because of its name, a fork named Jenkins was initiated. Both systems, Hudson and Jenkins are actively developed. Today Hudson is a top level project at the Eclipse Foundation.
