Hugh Aycelin

Hugues Aycelin, named Hugues de Seguin Billay (* 1230 in Billom, † December 28, 1297 in Rome) was a French theologian and cardinal

He was a son of Pierre Aycelin, Dominican monk and Maître theology. He taught in 1282 at the convent in the Rue Saint -Jacques in Paris, in 1287 at the Santa Sabina Convent in Rome.

Hugues Aycelin was one of the Pope Nicholas IV 's closest advisors in 1288 he was appointed cardinal, cardinal bishop of Ostia in 1295. From 1294 he was dean of the College of Cardinals.
