Hugh Kennedy

Hugh Kennedy (Irish Aodh Ó Cinneide, born July 11, 1879 in Dublin, † December 1, 1936 ) was an Irish politician of the Cumann na nGaedheal, first Attorney General of Ireland and first Chief Justice ( Chief Justice ) of the Supreme Court

Biography

Kennedy studied post-school law and was after graduation worked as a barrister.

On December 7, 1922, he became the first Attorney General ( Attorney General ) of the Irish Free State appointed. As such, he was instrumental in the creation of the court system in Ireland. In addition, he was a candidate of the Cumann na nGaedheal for deputies ( Teachta Dala ) of the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ) is selected and represented the constituency of Dublin South there.

On June 5, 1924, he resigned from his post as Attorney General and also laid down his mandate in the House, after he was appointed the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Hugh Kennedy served in this office until his death.
