Hugh W. Sloan, Jr.

Hugh W. Sloan, Jr. ( born November 1, 1940 in Princeton, New Jersey ) was the U.S. Treasurer of the Committee to Re-elect the President, the financing of the re-election of U.S. President Richard M. Nixon in the U.S. election campaign of 1972 contributed. This committee was the starting point of the Watergate scandal, which eventually led to the impeachment of Nixon. Previously, he was a member of HR Haldeman, the chief of staff of the White House.

Sloan graduated with a B. A. (Honours ) from his studies at Princeton University.

The reporter for the daily newspaper, the Washington Post, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein told later from which she learned from "Deep Throat" that Sloan did not know anything about the break-ins at the Watergate hotel and it was not known how the money he as treasurer was awarded used. It was during the Watergate affair to his office and became the source of information of Woodward and Bernstein. He was not unmasked by the Washington Post article, but was only mentioned in the book of the two journalists All the President 's Men by name. In it, he has been described as almost the only honest man who was involved in the Watergate affair.

Since 1985, Sloan Director of Manulife Financial Corporation, a Canadian insurance company, and holds a position in the Woodbridge Foam Company in Troy, Michigan.

In the movie The Untouchables by Alan J. Pakula Sloan is played by Stephen Collins.
