Province

Humansdorp is a place in South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. It is located in the municipality in the district Cacadu Kouga.

Geography

Humansdorp has 20 123 inhabitants ( 2011). The village is located about 50 kilometers west of Port Elizabeth, close to the Indian Ocean at Cape St. Francis and Jeffreys Bay.

History

The town was founded in 1849 and named after Johannes Jurie Human and Matthys Gerhardus Human, who were the founders of the Dutch Reformed church.

Economy and Transport

Humansdorp is situated immediately south of the N2, on the touristy marketed " Route 62 " as well as to the regional road R 330 according to Hankey in the north and R300 to Cape St. Francis in the south.
