Hussein Chalayan

Hussein Chalayan (Turkish: Hüseyin Çağlayan ), MBE (born in 1970 in Nicosia, Cyprus ) is a British fashion designer of Turkish Cypriot origin, entrepreneur and conceptual artist.

Life

The son of a Turkish Cypriot family completed his design studies at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Since 1982 he has lived in the British capital.

Its entirely unconventional, very eager to experiment artistic Father convinced the experts from the art world and the fashion industry alike, so that he was booked for several international exhibitions in museums and for two consecutive years 1999 and 2000 the title of Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Awards which was carrying.

Since 2001, he participated with their own shows at the Prêt -à- porter fashion weeks in Paris. A year later, in 2002, he launched his first menswear collection. In April, he opened his flagship store as an entrepreneur in Tokyo.

On 28 February 2008 he was appointed creative director of Puma AG. In return, the Puma AG acquired a majority stake in Hussein Chalayan brand.
