Hynes Convention Center (MBTA-Station)

Hynes Convention Center is the name of an underground Light rail station of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority ( MBTA ) in Boston's Back Bay in the state of Massachusetts in the United States. It offers the eponymous Hynes Convention Center access to the branches B, C and D of the U- tram Green Line.

History

The station was opened as part of the Boylston Street Subway, an extension of the Tremont Street Subway on October 3, 1914 under the name of Massachusetts. In 1965, the station was in the auditorium and 1990, finally renamed the Hynes Convention Center / ICA. After the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA ) was moved from the nearby Boylston Street to new premises in November 2006, the supplement " ICA " has been removed from all signs of the station.

The underground station has two tracks, which are accessible via two side platforms.

Building

The metro station is located at the address 100 Massachusetts Avenue at 360 Newbury Street, and is not accessible because it is one of the last non-renovated stations of the MBTA network.

The eastern exit on Boylston Street is usually closed. An exception is the Patriots ' Day, on which the output is opened to provide additional capacity for participants and visitors of the Boston Marathon.

Surroundings

At the station there is a connection to three bus lines of the MBTA. Nearby points of the immediate area - also on the Green Line stations Prudential E or Back Bay Orange Line achievable - Prudential Center, Hynes Convention Center, Berklee College of Music, the Boston Conservatory and the Boston Architectural College. In the neighboring Newbury Street also offer lots of shopping.
