Hypnotize is the fifth studio album by System of a Down. With Hypnotize the second part of the double album Mezmerize / Hypnotize was released on 18 November 2005.

Music

The musical style of the album is very similar to its predecessor Mezmerize, which can be explained by the fact that System of a Down wrote the songs for both albums at the same time. Also on Hypnotize yourself lead singer and keyboardist Serj Tankian and guitarist and vocalist Daron Malakian sharing the vocals. Accents are set with fast blast beats and the use of double bass. New are the more exotic keyboard melodies that complement the Klangsprektum the band in some songs.

Versions

The album was released in two different versions: on a normal CD and a DualDisc, which even the emergence of the double album, the videos BYOB and Question from the album Mezmerize and Hypnotize Enhanced stereo version of the album contains.

Cover design

The graphic design took over again Vartan Malakian, Daron Malakian father of guitarist. The design builds on the designed also by Vartan Mezmerize and forms a unit. Therefore, the CD cases can be put together. In addition, both albums also form a musical unit: Soldier Side, the intro of Mezmerize, will be continued on the album as a real song and closes the album or double album.

Achievements

Hypnotize reached # 4 in the German album charts in its first week. In America, the album reached platinum on 13 December 2005 and on December 10, 2005 # 1 on the Billboard 200 in Germany reached it, like its predecessor, Gold.
