Ian Russell, 13th Duke of Bedford

John Ian Robert Russell, 13th Duke of Bedford ( born May 24, 1917 † 25 October 2002) was a British peer and writer.

Russell was initially the courtesy title of Lord Howland, 1940-1953, Marquess of Tavistock the one. With the death of his father in 1953 Hastings Russell Russell inherited the title of Duke of Bedford and the time associated seat in the House of Lords.

1939 until he was wounded in 1940 took Russell in World War II with the Coldstream Guards in part. Then he turned to journalism and in 1940 worked as a reporter for the Daily Express.

He wrote the following books:

  • German: treatise on the fine British Art: The Book of Snobs, from the English by Ursula Princess of Hohenlohe, with drawings by HE Köhler; Fischer Library, Frankfurt / Hamburg 1970

Russell was married three times and had three children, including Henry Robin Ian Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford.
