Ignacio Jáuregui

Ignacio Jáuregui Díaz ( born July 31, 1938 in Guadalajara, Jalisco ), also known by the nickname El Gallo ( the rooster ), is a former Mexican football player who acted mostly as a left-back, but intervened again and again in the attack.

Association

El Gallo Jáuregui began his professional career in 1957 in the service of his home club CF Atlas, which he won in 1962 Copa México. However Jáuregui was missing in the subsequent final of the Supercup against in those years the Mexican Primera División dominant city rivals Chivas, which was defeated 2-0.

In 1963, Jáuregui for CF Monterrey, where he stayed in the season 1969/70 until the end of his active career.

National

His debut in the Mexican national was Jáuregui on 24 May 1959 in a memorable for the Mexican soccer game. That day was the " home of football ", England, defeated 2-1. His only international goal scored el Gallo Jáuregui in a 3-2 victory against Jamaica on 3 May 1965. On 28 May 1967, he completed his last international match at 0-2 against the Soviet Union.

Highlights of his national team career was the participation in the soccer world championships in 1962 and 1966, in which he played a total of three games: In 1962, he participated in the " last-minute defeat " against Spain (0-1) and the first World Cup victory of a Mexican national at all with, as in the preliminary round group later vice world champion was defeated Czechoslovakia 3-1. Coach

In the 18 years 1975-1993 Jáuregui coached nine Mexican club teams in the Primera División. Only three times, however, he had a commitment that went beyond the period of one year: at the University of his hometown team (1976-1978), at the Correcaminos de la UAT (1989-1991) and in between his longest at just under two and a half years at the station Coyotes Neza, which he oversaw for the seasons 1982/83 and 1983/ 84 as well as the first round in 1984/85.

His greatest success as a coach, he reached with the Leones Negros; the only trained by him from his hometown club, with whom he reached the finals of the 1976/77 season ( 0-0 and 0-1 against the Pumas de la UNAM) and thus Mexican runner-up was.

With two of the trained teams of him, he failed in the Liguillas against the Leones Negros: immediately before his engagement there with his first club León ( in the quarterfinals of the 1975/76 season with 0:5 and 0:1) and in the season 1987 / 88 Toluca (also in the quarter-finals with 0:1 and 0:1).

His last involvement with CF Pachuca included the last nine days game of the 1992 season / 93. His last game as head coach took place on 1 May 1993 at the Azteca Stadium against Cruz Azul and was lost by his team with 2:4.
