Igors Kazanovs

Igors Kazanovs (Russian Игорь Яковлевич Казанов, Igor Yakovlevich Kasanow; * September 24, 1963 in Daugavpils ) is a Latvian former hurdler who specialized discipline was the 110-meter distance.

Starting for the Soviet Union, he finished fifth at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome and won the bronze medal over 60 meters hurdles at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1989 in Budapest. In 1990, he won gold over 60 meters at the Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow and reached at the European Athletics Championships in Split, the final, in which he, however, did not reach the target. In 1991, he won a silver medal over 60 meters hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Seville, and retired at the world championships in Tokyo in the semifinals.

As a representative of Latvia he defended in 1992 at the European Indoor Championships in Genoa his title and reached at the Olympic Games in Barcelona the semifinals. The following year he was fifth on 60 m hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Toronto and sixth at the World Championships in Stuttgart.

While he was in 1995, not it past in his last large outdoor Championships, the World Championships in Gothenburg and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta on the semi-finals, he won in the hall the other two European Champion title at the European Indoor Championships in Stockholm in 1996 and at the European Indoor Championships 1998 in Valencia.
