Ike Isaacs (guitarist)

Ike Isaacs ( born December 1, 1919 in Rangoon, Burma, † January 10, 1996 in Sydney, New South Wales ) was a British jazz guitarist of the swing.

Ike Isaacs was self-taught on his instrument and began his professional career when he was a chemistry student. In 1946 he moved to England, where he worked as a freelance musician. He played several years with Ted Heath, 1956 at George Chisholm and 1968 with Barney Kessel. In the 1950s, he performed with his quartet in the weekly BBC show Guitar Club. In the 1960s and 1970s, he worked as a studio musician and often played with Stephane Grappelli, with whom he appeared in Diz Disley 's Hot Club. Isaacs also starred in the 1970s with Digby Fairweather, Len Skeat and Denny Wright in the formation Velvet. With Martin Taylor, he played in a duo.

In the 1980s, Isaac moved to Australia, where he taught at the Sydney Guitar School. However, he always returned to solo performances and guitar all-star formations to Great Britain.
