Len Skeat

Len Skeat ( born February 9, 1937 in London ) is a British bassist of mainstream jazz.

Life and work

Skeat, whose older brother Bill Skeat was active as a saxophonist on the British jazz scene, playing with Ted Heath and since the early 1960's the trio of Eddie Thompson; He accompanied Thompson until his death in 1986. Besides he played with Stephane Grappelli and American guest soloists such as Ruby Braff, Ben Webster, Billy Eckstine, Lionel Hampton, Scott Hamilton, Helen Merrill, Harry Edison, Eddie Lockjaw Davis or Lou Rawls.

With Digby Fairweather, Ike Isaacs and Denny Wright he was listening to in the 1970s in the formation Velvet and appeared regularly in the Pizza Express in Soho. In the U.S., he played with the band of Bobby Rose Garden. He also belonged to the regular rhythm sections on the albums of nail - Heyer Records, with about Danny Moss and Harry Allen. As a member of Charly Antolini Jazz Power, he joined in the early 1990s also frequently in central Europe.
