Ikeda (Tokushima)

Ikeda (Japanese池田 町, -chō ) was a town in the district of Miyoshi in Tokushima Prefecture in Japan. Together with other communities they were combined on 1 March 2006 the newly founded city of Miyoshi.

Location

The village lies on the River Yoshino, and in the interior of the island Shodoshima. Around 10 kilometers from downtown upriver is the Koboke Gorge, just as the west of it lying Tsurugi San Quasi National Park with the Iya Gorge.

Traffic

The Awa Ikeda station located on the JR Dosan Line which runs from Takamatsu via Kōchi by Wakai. In Awa Ikeda branches off from this line, the line to Tokushima Tokushima from. By Ikeda also carry important national highways. From west to east, this is the road 192 and Tokushima highway which replaced the 192 on this stretch. The road leads from 192 Kawanoe by Mima and continue to Tokushima. And 32 more runs from north to south, the road from the highway that comes on the Sento Bridge directly to the south and reaches about Kothari, Ikeda. It continues south over Koboke and Oboke after Otoyo where it flows back into the highway to Kochi.
