Illusion (UK band)

Illusion was a British band in the 1970s. They played in classical music -oriented progressive rock with lush keyboards and the crystal clear voice of singer Jane Relf.

History

1976 planned Keith Relf and his sister Jane, Jim McCarty, Louis Cennamo and John Hawken, the original members of the band Renaissance, a reunion. But the former singer and guitarist Keith Relf died before the project could be implemented in this form. As a result, took over Jim McCarty, who played the drums at the Yardbirds and Renaissance, the acoustic guitar and a portion of the song. Drummer for the new band was Eddie McNeill, plus came John Knightsbridge on the electric guitar. However, since the band Renaissance persisted in completely different line-up, had to be chosen another name. The original Renaissance were now illusion, based on the eponymous second Renaissance album. Illusion published in 1977 and 1978 two albums, a third was planned, but the band broke up in disagreement about the creative direction and to the emerging contempt of progressive rock by the growing punk Bewgung.

1990 Enchantered Caress has been published. It contains demo recordings from 1979 for a planned third album, and the last shot Keith Relfs before his death in 1976.

2001 took Jane Relf, McCarty, Cennamo Hawken and with additional musicians on the album Through the Fire. It was released under the band name Renaissance illusion.
