IÅ‚owa

Iłowa [ iwɔva ] ( German Halbau ) is a small town on the Little Tschirne ( Czerna Mała ) in the extreme southwest of belonging to Poland part of Upper Lusatia. The city belongs to the Province Lebus, circle ZAGAN

History

1356 Brothers of Kottwitz received half the village at the Czirne by Emperor Charles IV as a fief; they had Halbau to 1567. 1440 destroyed the city of Görlitz, a castle of the von Kottwitz, because it had proved to be prey nest. The majority of the town was in Upper Lusatia and thus went from Bohemia to Saxony about 1635.

The 1459 mentioned iron hammer to half lay on the little Tschirne and belonged to the Duchy of Sagan. 1668 a Protestant church was built boundary. On May 17, 1679 Oberlausitzer Part II received city rights by Elector Johann Georg. 1804, the church was consecrated in Kunau ( Konin Żagański ) and for independent parish.

1815 Halbau fell to Prussia and the circle Sagan ( Żagań ), from 1932 the county Sprottau ( Szprotawa ) has been assigned in the province of Lower Silesia.

The castle belonged to the extensive manorial Halbau, which encompassed many villages.

1830 lost Halbau a town rights and was henceforth a market town.

In Halbau glass factories and textile plants were located. Due to the bog iron ore deposits were located in the area, many smaller ironworks and hammers. A well known company in Halbau were also the Zeipauer Dachstein works.

1825 lived here 1,000 inhabitants, which parted and came to the manor Halbau, Oberlausitzisch Halbau and Silesian- Halbau. In 1905 there were 1500 and 1939, 3,480 inhabitants. On March 1, 1936, the place Zehrbeutel ( Dolany ), in which 125 people lived in 1925, amalgamated with Halbau.

1957 Iłowa was raised to the urban settlement ( osiedle ) and 1962 went to the place again a town.

Community

The urban and rural commune ( gmina miejsko - wiejska ) Iłowa covers a territory of 153.05 km ² and has about 7,100 inhabitants. It includes the following villages ( German name until 1945):
