Ilson de Jesus Montanari

Ilson de Jesus Montanari ( born July 18, 1959 in Sertãozinho, State of São Paulo, Brazil) is Archbishop Curia of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Ilson de Jesus Montanari first completed a degree in law and economics. From 1985 to 1988 he studied at the Pontifical Brazilian Pius College in Rome and philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University theology. He received on 18 August 1989, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Archdiocese of Ribeirão Preto. After pastoral work in his hometown Sertãozinho he taught at the Research Center of the Archdiocese of Ribeirão Preto and from 1990 to 1994 at the diocesan seminary of the Archdiocese of Uberaba. He was chancellor from 1993 to 2002, later pastoral coordinator of the Diocese of Ribeirão Preto and Vicar General. After a postgraduate degree in dogmatic theology at the Gregorian University, he was in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed to the Congregation for Bishops in Rome. Benedict XVI. appointed him in 2011 to Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ).

On October 12, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Titular Archbishop of Caput Cilla and appointed him as Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Ribeirão Preto, Moacir Silva, on 7 November 2013. Were co-consecrators the Archbishop of Sao Paulo Odilo Pedro Scherer Cardinal and Archbishop of Belo Horizonte, Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo.
