Imre Németh

Imre Németh [ ne ː imrɛ mɛt ] ( born September 23, 1917 in Košice ( Austria - Hungary), today Košice (Slovakia ); † August 18, 1989 in Budapest ) was a former Hungarian hammer thrower. His greatest achievement was winning the gold medal at the 1948 Olympic Games in London.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki four years later he was able to win the bronze medal. Németh improved in his career, three times the hammer throw world record, he held it uninterruptedly 1948-1952.

His son Miklós Németh was Olympic champion in the javelin in 1976.
