Sergey Litvinov

Sergei Nikolaevich Litvinov (Russian: Сергей Николаевич Литвинов; . Engl transcription Sergey Litvinov, born January 23, 1958 in Zukorowa - Balka in Krasnodar ) is a retired hammer thrower, who competed for the Soviet Union and then for Russia first.

He won at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 the gold medal in his discipline. In 1983 and 1987 he was able to secure the hammer throw champion title. In addition, a silver and a bronze medal at the European Championships. Litvinov presented in the course of his career on three world records, each of his constant rival Yuri Sedych exceeded. The personal best is 86.04 meters, set in 1986 in Dresden, his competition weight was 108 kg at a height of 1.80 m.

His son Sergej Litvinov Jr. is also hammer thrower.
