Anatoliy Bondarchuk

Anatoly Bondarchuk (Ukrainian Анатолій Бондарчук, English transcription Anatoliy Bondarchuk, . Анатолий Павлович Бондарчук Russian, Anatoly Pavlovich Bondarchuk; born May 31, 1940 in Starokostjantyniw ) is a former Ukrainian hammer thrower, the Olympic champion was for the Soviet Union.

The first major international success for Bondarchuk was winning the gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in 1969; with his winning distance he surpassed his own world record, which until 1971 had stock. His title he could not defend two years later; he was at the European Athletics Championships 1971 Third.

The following year, Bondarchuk was then able to achieve the greatest success of his career: He won the gold medal at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. At the games in Montreal in 1976, he placed himself behind his student Yuri Sedych, the Olympic champion, was in third place.

His personal best from 1976 is 77.42 m. After his playing career Bondarchuk worked as hammer throw coach for the Soviet Union, Portugal and Kuwait.
