Starokostiantyniv

Starokostjantyniw (Ukrainian Старокостянтинів; Russian Староконстантинов / Starokonstantinov, Polish Starokonstantynów ) is a town in Ukraine. The town lies about 41 kilometers northeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Khmelnytsky on the river Slutsch.

The town was founded in 1561 by Konstanty Wasyl Ostrogski ( other sources mention 1525 and Konstanty Ostrogski as founder ) and was first in Poland in Kiev Voivodeship. 1795 was the place to Russia, became a town and was administratively in the government of Volhynia. Until the 19th century the place was called Konstantynów, he was then the extension Staro- ( "alt " =) added.

In 1999, the city was placed under Oblastverwaltung.

West of the city runs the railway line Shepetivka -Khmelnytskyi, , branching off from the railway line Starokostjantyniw - Kalynivka runs to the east.
