Smotrych (urban-type settlement)

Smotrytsch (Ukrainian Смотрич; Smotritsch Russian, Polish Smotrycz ) is an urban-type settlement in Rajon Dunajiwzi south of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast of Ukraine. The settlement municipality also includes the villages Krynytschany ( Криничани ) Mychiwka ( Михівка ) and Ripynzi ( Ріпинці ), namesake of the place is the current flowing through the village river Smotrytsch.

History

The settlement was founded in the second half of the 14th century and received in 1448 the Magdeburg Law. 1958, the site became part of the newly created Rajons Dunajiwzi, 1960, he was taken to an urban-type settlement.
