Iziaslav, Ukraine
Izjaslav (Ukrainian Ізяслав; Изяслав Russian, Polish Zasław ) is a town in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast of Ukraine with 18,444 inhabitants ( 2001). It lies on the river Horyn, located about 78 kilometers north of the Oblasthauptstadt Khmelnytsky. Other non- official spellings for the site are Saslaw / Заслав and Scheslaw / Жеслав.
History
The town was first mentioned in writing in 1390 and received a city charter in 1583.
