Juha Tiainen

Juha Tiainen ( born December 5, 1955 in Uukuniemi; † 28 April 2003 in Lappeenranta ) was the best Finnish hammer thrower in the 1980s. He won at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, the gold medal in his discipline.

Tiainen was a six-time Finnish hammer throw champion, but was out of his Olympic victory in Los Angeles win no other international titles. His victory there was much favored by the fact that the states of the Warsaw block boycotted the games and the strong competition from the Soviet Union, therefore, did not compete with the competition.

His personal best was 81.52 meters, set in 1984 in Tampere, his competition weight was 108 kg at a height of 1.83 m.
