Imset

Imseti, (also Imsti, Imset or Imseti ) was one of four sons of Horus and Kanopengötter who protected the mummified viscera. When his parents are the god Horus the Elder ( Haroeris ) and the goddess Isis.

Representation

Unlike his siblings, he always appears in human form, to the Middle Kingdom, even female.

Importance

As a patron of canopic jars he protected together with the other three sons of Horus Hapy, Duamutef and Kebechsenuef the mummified viscera. He was under the protection of the liver.

Already the Pyramid Texts mention Imseti as patron god of the dead and their helpers in the ascent to heaven. About the inscriptions on the Kanopenkrügen and related Kanopenkästen Imseti is called. The Egyptian mythology, he was diagnosed of Horus as his siblings as guardians of the cardinal points and sent as Krönungsbote south. Imseti star is also God. His patron goddess is Isis.
