Inge Görmer

Inge Görmer, ( born April 11, 1934) is a former German speed skater who participated in numerous national and international competitions 1953-1960.

Life and sports development

Inge Görmer took part in an international championship five times. At the World Cup, it took four times as East German part (1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959 ); as a member of the all-German team took part in the Winter Olympics ( 1960).

During her international debut at the 1956 World Cup round she was 10, at the 1957 World Cup round of 15 and at the 1958 World Cup round she came to 15th and had over 1500m and 300m her best performance with two fifth places. The Winter Olympics 1960 brought Inge Görmer probably not what they had expected: a 16th place above 1500 m and 3000 m on the 13th Place.

Success (selection)

  • Their best finish at the Olympic Games was a 13th place over 3000 meters in 5:37,5 minutes in Squaw Valley.
  • In the all-around world championships 1958, she won a 7th place in the mini four-way battle.
  • Between 1953 and 1960 Inge Görmer was subscribed on the second place in the National Championships though, only behind Margit Grobe, and later Helga Haase was too fast.
