Inge Vervotte

Inge Vervotte (* December 27 1977 in Bonheiden ) is a Belgian politician of the Christian Democratisch en Vlaams (CD & V). She was first minister in the Flemish Government under Yves Leterme (CD & V), but it follows in the year 2007, when he moved to the federal government. In the current federal government Leterme II she held the post of Minister for the Civil Service and public companies.

Curriculum vitae

Inge Vervotte ended in 1998 her studies as a social assistant at the Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven ( KHLeuven ) in Heverlee. Her professional career began at the Christian trade union ( ACV - Algemeen Christelijk Vakverbond ), where they gave the union delegates lessons at the training center for the public service after a short time. Then she was appointed trade union secretary, first for Sabena and then for the entire aviation sector.

Political career

Vervotte was by then President of the CD & V, Stefaan De Clerck, noticed when she campaigned after the bankruptcy of Sabena for the workers of the airline. So Inge Vervotte chose the Flemish Christian Democrats for their entry into politics.

In 2003 she was elected federal representatives and in 2004 the deputies in the Flemish Parliament. In the same year she was promoted to the Flemish Minister for Welfare, Health and Family under the Flemish Prime Minister Yves Leterme (CD & V).

After the federal election of 2007 Vervotte left this office and turned back to the federal levels. When, after a long political crisis finally the transitional government Verhofstadt III was sworn in under Guy Verhofstadt (Open VLD), Vervotte received the Office of the Minister for the Civil Service. This office she kept even in the successor government under Prime Minister Yves Leterme.

In 2008, the so-called " Fortis affair" broke out, in which was reported from judicial circles that had been exercised by politicians and especially by high-ranking employee of Yves Leterme pressure on the judges, which in itself with irregularities in the sale of Fortis Group the bank BNP Paribas involved, and thus the separation of powers was violated. As a result of its first justice minister Jo Vandeurzen (CD & V ), and finally resigned Yves Leterme and the entire government, renounced Vervotte to a share in the government under Van Rompuy Herman Van Rompuy (CD & V) and met again as a simple deputy. At the same time she began further study in the UK.

After the recovery of Leterme as Prime Minister in 2009 also Vervotte rose again in the federal government and took over the same resort that they already held in the previous federal governments.
