Van Rompuy Government

The Belgian Government Van Rompuy (sometimes government Van Rompuy I) was from 30 December 2008 until 25 November 2009 at the office. January 2, 2009 you spoke the Chamber of Deputies of the trust. During her term, the government learned instead of a large staff reshuffle and a shift of powers within the government. Foreign Minister Karel de Gucht was on 17 July 2009 on the one hand designated to represent Belgium in the European Commission, and on the other hand changed after the regional elections of 2009, which had led mainly to the Walloon side new majorities and a new government, some politicians the office. Van Rompuy presented on 25 November 2009 in his resignation as Prime Minister after he was designated on 19 November 2009 as the first permanent President of the European Council. On the same day Foreign Minister Yves Leterme was appointed head of government and formed the successor government Leterme II
