Steven Vanackere

Steven Vanackere ( born February 4, 1964 in Wevelgem ) is a Belgian politician of the party Christian - Democratisch en Vlaams (CD & V). From November 2009 to December 2011 he was Belgian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the government Leterme II From December 6, 2011 to March 5, 2013 he was Minister of Finance in the government Di Rupo.

Life

After attending school in Sint -Stevens -Woluwe and Haasrode Vanackere began studying at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1987 and earned a Licentiate in Law and a degree in economics in 1988. He then worked for six months at the Kredietbank (now part of KBC Group) and then from 1988 for the study of service Christelijke Volkspartij (CVP, since 2001, CD & V), CEPESS, works.

Vanackere worked from 1990 to 1991 as an advisor to the then CVP- chairman Herman Van Rompuy and from 1991 to 1993 as Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Brussels Finance Minister Jos Chabert. In October 1993, he assumed the post of Director-General of the Brussels harbor and had held this position until April 2000. At the same time, he was from 1995 to 1999 continues to serve in the Cabinet of Jos Chabert, where he has served as Chief of Cabinet. In May 2000 he moved from the port to the Brussels Transport Company STIB Brussels, where he worked as Deputy Director-General until 2005.

In 2004 Vanackere for the first time as a candidate in an election in part and was chosen as one of six members of the Brussels Capital Region into the Flemish Parliament. In addition, he took over at the local level on 1 December 2006 the Office of the Schöffens of Economy and Trade of the City of Brussels.

On 28 June 2007 he was appointed to the Flemish Minister for Health and Family Welfare under Prime Minister Kris Peeters. This office he held until December 30, 2008, when he was appointed to the Van Rompuy I government at the federal level to the Minister of Public Service and public undertakings and Deputy Prime Minister. After the resignation of the government Van Rompuy on 25 November 2009 and the appointment of Yves Leterme as Prime Minister Vanackere followed him into the vacant post of foreign minister. From there he transferred to the government Di Rupo 6 December 2011 to the Minister of Finance. From this office he resigned on March 5, 2013 in a possible conflict of interest due to banking back.

Vanackere is married and has no children.
