The EV Innsbruck ( Innsbruck also EV) was an ice hockey club from the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck, who participated at the highest Austrian league, the Austrian Hockey League until 1993.

History

The EV Innsbruck was founded in 1925 as a section of the Innsbruck Ice Hockey skating club and took first at the provincial championship in the Austrian Cup finals.

From the 1950s, the section of the Austrian Hockey League participated. The greatest success the team shortly after the Second World War with the winning several championship titles. In the 1960s, the Section Hockey became independent and changed his name to EV Innsbruck.

Short term existed in the Austrian Hockey League 1969/70 inner-city competition from the EC Innsbruck Pradl who could, however, hold only for one season in the top division. In 1973, merged the two teams to EC Innsbruck, which ran aground in the following years due to changing sponsors under various names in the Bundesliga. In the 1988/89 season was followed by the last great success with the seventh title.

The 1992/93 season was the last, with the participation of the EV Innsbruck, then the descent into second- highest division. After only a participation in the National League, which ended with the championship win, the club was disbanded in 1994. The following year went with the HC Innsbruck for the first time the successor club in the league at the start, which acted as the second- highest league in the season 1995/96. In 2000, the HC Innsbruck rose to the Bundesliga, since 1993 was able to welcome a club from the Tyrolean capital for the first time. 2009, however, even this club rose from voluntarily in the National League.
