Insomnium
Insomnium (Latin Insomnium, dream ') is a Finnish melodic death metal band, founded in the spring of 1997 in Joensuu.
Biography
Insomnium a city in the east of Finland, by Niilo Sevänen, Ville Friman, Tapani Pesonen and Markus Hirvonen was in the spring of 1997 in Joensuu, founded. The second guitarist, Ville Vänni, came only in 2001 as a full member to Insomnium. It was clear from the beginning that the band would try to connect all of the positive elements of the music of their favorite bands. The result was a mixture of Scandinavian Melodic Death Metal and typically Finnish sounds.
Two years later, Insomnium recorded the first demo CD. Motivated by the mostly positive criticism, their next demo CD was released a year later. In 2001 the band signed a contract with the label Candlelight Records and began a few weeks later, the recording of their first album In The Halls of Awaiting which was published in 2002.
2004 appeared the second studio album Since the Day It All Came Down and 2006 's third studio album Above the Weeping World was published. It is now published with Across The Dark (2009), the fourth studio album by the band, on which for the first time in the history of the band joined by clean vocals to the characteristic growls Insomniums. In addition to her musical activities, the members normal work or go to university.
In August, the band signed a record contract with the German label Century Media. They justified this, among other things, that she wants to go on a tour of Europe more outside. From September to October 2010, the band was on the Where- Death -is -Most Alive Tour along with Dark Tranquillity. In addition, the band released shortly before the song Weather the Storm, on the Mikael Stanne was heard, as a free download. In October 2011, the fifth studio album One for Sorrow appeared.
On 31 October 2011, the band announced that Ville Vänni will be leaving the band at the beginning of One For Sorrow Tour. His role as a guitarist is taken over by Markus Vanhala the band Omnium Gatherum.
Style and influences
The music Insomniums is partially influenced by bands such as Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and At The Gates. Textual inspiration relates the band in their own words from various works of world literature.
