Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence Research ( ICG ) is a research unit at the University of Bielefeld. It was founded in 1996 and is 2005 about 30 academic staff from various disciplines such as sociology, psychology, education, political science, social anthropology, economics, criminology and history. In the ICG the causes and effects of social conflicts is investigated. Labor issues are social disintegration, group -focused enmity and conflicts in cities.

The institute was conducted 1996-2013 by Wilhelm Heitmeyer, since April 9, 2013 Andreas Zick the new director.

The research of the ICG are currently being deepened and by the Research Training Group " group -focused enmity: Causes, phenomenology, consequences," extended, which is located as an interdisciplinary project of the German Research Foundation at the Universities of Bielefeld, Marburg and Giessen.

Board and Advisors

The ICG is headed by an interdisciplinary board of directors.
