InterContinental Warsaw

The Intercontinental is a five -star hotel in Warsaw. It is located in the business district of downtown district. The townscape building was constructed from 2001 to 2003 and is the tallest hotel in Poland and the third highest in Europe.

Architecture

History

First preparatory construction work began in 1997. Builders were the Warimpex Finanz-und Beteiligungs -AG and the UBM reality development corporation along with the InterContinental group and the general contractor, the project and construction Porr AG. First, old buildings had to be demolished. The demolition was also the most important Polish jazz club, the " Akwarium " victim. Residents of surrounding residential blocks were protesting against the construction project, they feared a shadow of the tower. The hotel has won several awards - it won the EMEA Market Performance Award 2005 and in the same year, the EMEA Quality Award.
