Interzone (band)

Interzone was a German -language rhythm and blues and rock band that released several albums 1980-1988. The largest single and album successes were "Poor Paul " (1982), " Interzone " (1981) and " The Sweet Life" ( 1985).

Band History

In 1968 Pudelko founded with bassist Kurt Herkenberg the blues-rock group, Curly Curve ', in which later guitarist Leo teaching and drummer Hans Wall Tree played, but rose again in the early 1970s left the band. 1978 marked the end of ' Curly Curve ' and the trio Wall Tree, Herkenberg, teachers came up to Pudelko, which had begun in the meantime to work with German lyrics.

In early 1979 founded the four group, Interzone ', to the shortly thereafter Ralf, Trotter ' Schmidt, Bibi ' Schulz and Axel Fuhrmann of the Berlin Bar Band' came. Pudelko wrote initially not own texts, but was fascinated by the poems Wolf Wondratschek, the great poet of the eccentrics and loners. After the success of their self-produced single " Children's Songs of concrete " and wanted Pudelko, Interzone ' 1980 release the music of their first album, complete with lyrics set to music Wondratschek, but the poet drew his consent for this back. The album titled, Chuck's room ' is unpublished to this day.

Beginning of 1981 went Interzone ' without a record deal in Berlin, Audio' studio and took the first Interzone' album with co- producer Udo Arndt. Shortly before the end of the production, it came to an agreement with a record company and mid- June 1981 released their debut album with the band name in the title. The Music Express ' presented the formation by Flexi - disc in song excerpts. Shortly thereafter played, Interzone 'on the stage in front of 22,000 fans in Berlin forest and were broadcast live on television. With the increasing popularity, the band decided to take a 7-day -7 -city tour in November of the year, when joined in the spring of 1982 appearances (along with Spliff, PrimaKlima and Extra Wide), Levi 's Rock Festival ' tour. This festival tour was very well attended, but mainly from a very young audience.

In September 1982, " Out of love ", the second album by Heiner Pudelko and, Interzone ', on the market of the eg, Tip' magazine wrote that it was ( quote) " ... pure substance da capo ... ". The album was recorded in general critical acclaim. Although it did not come in the official charts, the sales figures were impressive.

Mid-1983, another concert at the Berlin forest stage was played, Trotter ' Schmidt helped his friends in the forest stage concert on bass, but was lost to the other band projects. The Tagesspiegel ' wrote about this concert with many Berlin bands: " ... what a luck that the ending with, Interzone ' is at least a real blues and soul band first class was scheduled ."

End of 1984, the single was released, "I and my friend the cat ," which was produced by Nena producer Reinhold Heil and Udo Arndt. Guitarist teaching rose briefly then, now played bass Benjamin Hüllenkremer who replaced James Delbridge; on keyboards was added Ingo Bischof (formerly Kraan ). In the summer of 1985, Interzone then presented in a new Sound dress. But the third album " The sweet life " did not sell particularly well in spite of the relatively expensive advertising campaign. In ' Interzone' clan you had since resigned but almost so. Germany was 1985/86 on other artists such as Nena, Falco or Grönemeyer. In summer 1986, the band broke up.

1988 produced Annette Humpe and Conny Plank 's first solo album Heiner Pudelkos titled " My Sweetheart ", in which all participated but again, Interzone' musicians. In the same year Leo teaching was killed, he was run over by a truck and died. Shortly after the turn of the year 1994/1995 Pudelko died at the age of 46 years. After his death, the record company released under the title " With artigsten regards" a compilation of the best Pudelko & ' Interzone' songs from 17 years.

Mario Schulz is now the House guitarist for Stoppok, Hans Wall Tree drummer for the Hamburg Blues Band, Ingo Bischof and Benjamin Hüllenkremer are studio musicians. Ralf ' Trotter ' Schmidt is now bassist in the rock band The Drivers and the Alligators Blues in Berlin.
