Irene Pepinghege

Irene Pepinghege, born Irene Rozema ( born August 11, 1941 in Zaandam, Netherlands) is a former German canoeist.

As a talented young paddler she had moved because of better training conditions from Holland to Bochum and received after her marriage to Joseph Pepinghege 1966, the German nationality, so she was allowed to start from 1968 for the German Olympic team. Irene was Pepinghege multiple German champion and three -time Olympian. In the 1968 Olympics, she was a substitute wife there. 1972 in Munich, she was the one-man kayak Fourth, in 1976 she won the one-man kayak eighth. Besides her career in competitive sports, she was fully employed. Since 1994, Irene Pepinghege trained daily and honorary children and adolescents. She is currently working as head coach for the Netherlands.

  • Silver at the World Championships in the quad kayak in 1966 with Sigrid grief, Renate Breuer and Roswitha eater
  • Silver at the World Championships in the quad kayak 1971 Roswitha eater, Renate Breuer and heath Rosewall tree
  • Bronze at the European Championships 1965 in quad kayak with Erika Felten, Roswitha eaters and Renate Breuer
  • German champion in one kayak over 500 m in 1962, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976
  • German champion in double kayak 1965 with Roswitha Esser, 1970 Roswitha Spohr and 1973, 1974 and 1975 with Barbara Lewe - Pohlmann
  • German champion in four-man kayak 1967 with Doris Grebski, Heidi Honscha and Irmgard Honscha as well as 1974 and 1975 with Barbara Lewe - Pohlmann, Morta and Birgit Mairich
