Isaac Region

Geography

The region is situated in the middle of the east coast of the state about 790 km north of the capital, Brisbane.

Largest city and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Moranbah with about 7100 inhabitants. The region includes the following districts and towns: Belyando, Blue Mountain, Burton, Carmila, Clair View, Clarke Creek, Clermont, Collaroy, Coppa Bella, Dysart, Eagle Field, Elgin, Elphinstone, Epsom, Frank Field, Gemini Mountains, Glenden, Hail Creek, Ilbilbie, Kemmis, Kilcummin, Laglan, Lotus Creek, Mackenzie River, May Downs, Middlemount, Mistake Creek, Moranbah, Mount Britton, Nebo, Ogmore, Oxford, Pasha, peak Vale, St Lawrence, Strathfield Suttor, The Percy Group, Turrawulla, Valkyrie, Winchester and Wolfang.

History

Today Isaac region was founded in 2008 from the three Shires Belyando, Broad Sound and Nebo.

Management

The Isaac Regional Council has nine members. Eight Councillor elected by the residents of the eight divisions ( constituencies ). The Council President and Mayor ( Mayor ) is also elected by all residents of the region.
