Ishøj Municipality

Ishøj municipality is a Danish municipality on the outskirts of Køgebucht in the Capital Region.

It lies between the 9.50 km ² second smallest municipality in Denmark Vallensbæk and Brøndby municipality in the east and the Greve municipality in the west.

The municipality is 26.50 km ²; the seat of administration is in Ishøj. The municipal reform on 1 January 2007, the municipality Ishøj no effect. Since this year, but Ishøj itself is considered as part of the Capital Region Hovedstadsområdet, but not the rural portions of the municipality. Outside the closed settlement area is just 1,884 of the 21,131 inhabitants of the municipality (as of 1 January 2013).

It has good transport connections with the not distant Copenhagen by the S -Bahn from Køge and the highway.

In Ishøj lies the Arken Art Museum opened in 1996.
