Iceland Pond is a place ( census-designated place ) in Essex County of the State of Vermont in the United States. In the census of 2010 in the village of 821 people lived. Iceland Pond consists of a population center in the Town Brighton and is located in a valley in the eastern hills of the Green Mountains on the north shore of a lake; the name of the town comes from this lake ago.

In 1830 came at the inlet to this lake a mill, which was rebuilt in 1880 in a steam engine -powered T -Shirt Factory. Only with the construction of the rail link from Montreal, Canada to Portland, Maine was the place through regional importance because here had their transfer point, the two rail lines that run this connection ( see railway Montreal Iceland Pond and railway Portland Iceland Pond ). In addition, near a forest path branched off from this main line, which opened up the environment for the logging and Iceland Pond represented the transfer station. With the end of the passenger traffic in 1960 and the closure of the railway operations work in 1966 but lost its significance Iceland Pond. The line still exists and is today operated by the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad.

The place is 105 and 114 traversed by the Vermont Routes, which today are the most important link to the outside world. 2.5 km to the southeast of the village also is the John H. Boylan State Airport.
