Islands in the Stream is an interpreted by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton song that was written and produced by the Bee Gees.

History

The piece appeared in 1983 on Rogers album Eyes That See in the Dark. In the United States, Canada, Australia and Austria, the song was a number -one hit. In the U.S. there was in each case her second number -one hit for Rogers and Parton. Rogers had in 1980 a number -one hit with Lady and Parton 1981, 9 to 5, The Bee Gees had the song originally written for Marvin Gaye in the R & B style, but decided later to rewrite the song for Kenny Rogers and produce.

The song remained in the United States, two weeks at No. 1 and became the most successful tracks of the year 1983. In December 1983, the song by the Recording Industry Association of America has been certified platinum for more than two million recordings sold. In 2005, the song was chosen of all time in a poll for best country music duet, then the performers sang the song live again.
