Ruth Jones

Ruth Elizabeth Alexandra Jones, MBE ( born September 22, 1966 in Bridgend, South Wales ) is a Welsh actress and screenwriter. It was known in the UK mainly by leading roles in the co-authored by her series Gavin & Stacey and Stella. On German television, she appeared in the BCC series Little Britain.

Life

Ruth Jones grew up as the daughter of a working in industry lawyers and a child psychiatrist at Porthcawl where they went to the same school as her future colleague Rob Brydon. She studied theater and drama at the University of Warwick and attended for one year the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff. After she initially could not gain a foothold in the theater business, and even thought about pursuing a legal career, she got her first professional role as the Countess in a production of The Marriage of Figaro as " pantomime ", a typical British form of entertainment theater. With this production by Dominic Cooke's troupe Pan Optic she went on tour in the UK. At the invitation of Rob Brydons she joined an improvisation theater group in Bath, which also includes Julia Davis was one, later in the sitcom Nighty Night collaborated again with the Jones.

From 1991, Ruth Jones appeared in television and radio program from BBC Wales. They also played back at major theater stages such as the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. In 1999 she had a supporting role in the hit comedy film East is East.

Other appearances on television shows and series followed. In 2011 she played the well-known from the Carry On ... film series actress Hattie Jacques in the TV movie Hattie on BBC Four.

2008 Ruth Jones founded (named after another Catchphrase of Nessa Jenkins ) with her husband, producer David Peet, the production company Tidy Productions. Tidy Productions produced the 2008-2009 radio series Ruth Jones ' Sunday Brunch for BBC Radio Wales and also worked together with the broadcasters BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Wales. The company produced 2009 for the S4C to based on an idea by Ruth Jones TV movie Ar y Tracs on the crew of the train Swansea - London. She even plays in the film, the Polish railway station café employees Ingrid Crenski.

For Sky TV Jones produced since 2012 with their company the series Stella, which is based on their own idea and for which she wrote screenplays for four episodes.
